History of woodcuts: An instructor at the Lower Columbia College received a grant to teach printmaking to six practicing artists. Working from life and not photographs, the Octopus was sketched at the Aquarium in Astoria, Oregon. ”Creature” was inspired by a drawing of a bug on the screen door of a hotel in Peshwar, Pakistan. The thistle below was sketched from the forest outside the Mary’s studio.

SOLD — STORYBOARD DRAWING COLLECTION

Fourty-six (46) original storyboard illustrations from the 1976 View-Master Bible Story, “Jesus Christ, His Life, Disciples, Miracles.” Pencil on tissue mounted to mat board. Passages curated and depicted solely by Mary. Twent-one of these sketches were turned into a View-Master set. This is a sample of illustrations from the larger storyboard drawing collection.


AVAILABLE—LIMITED EDITIONS IN BRONZE

These limited edition reliefs, depicting the Mysteries of the Rosary, are incorporated into the landscaping of the Peace Garden at the Grotto (international Catholic shrine and botanical garden in Portland, Oregon).

Intended to be unique and not mass produced, the sculptor has been given permission to cast  limited editions at her discretion for special installations.

1986: In the studio composing the clay models of “The Glorious Mysteries.” as installed at the Grotto (The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother), in 1989. Reliefs are sold at the discretion of the artist for special installations and never in a group of five as shown above.
